The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
